Charley is the new Viennese bistro from accomplished hospitality investor David Barry and acclaimed Chef Kurt Gutenbrunner in up-and-coming Harrison, New Jersey [202 Angelo Cifelli Drive]. Charley is a cozy 65-seat neighborhood joint inspired by the culture of a Viennese Kaffeehaus, with a menu of bright and transportive central-European dishes. Putting an emphasis on engaging and community, Charley is a space for diners to gather over coffee, cocktails, and a meal.
Charley’s culinary partner Chef Kurt Gutenbrunner, the acclaimed chef behind Michelin-starred Wallsé in the West Village, brings his renowned culinary style to Charley in a more casual setting tailored to the local neighborhood. Some food highlights include:
- Flammkuchen, a savory, Austrian flatbread with local bacon, caramelized onions, and wild arugula
- Berlin Currywurst, thin-sliced pork bratwurst, onions, and a house-made tomato-curry sauce
- Mini Tartines, a selection of Viennese sandwiches served on organic rye with varieties including smoked salmon, spicy egg salad, pastrami, and sauerkraut
