Exploring Mount Fuji and Hakone: A Dreamy Day Trip with Get Your Guide

Japan has always been a bucket-list destination for me, and no trip to the Land of the Rising Sun is complete without a visit to the iconic Mount Fuji. To make the most of my experience, I booked a full-day private tour through Get Your Guide, and it turned out to be an unforgettable adventure. From breathtaking panoramic views to cultural and historical gems, here’s everything I explored on this incredible journey.

Mt. Fuji 5th Station – Touching the Clouds

The journey started with a scenic drive up to Mt. Fuji’s 5th Station, the highest point accessible by car. Nestled at an altitude of around 2,300 meters, this spot offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes and, on clear days, an up-close look at Fuji’s majestic peak. The crisp mountain air and traditional torii gates set the perfect tone for the day.

Oshino Hakkai – The Hidden Gem of Fuji

Next, we stopped by Oshino Hakkai, a charming village famous for its eight crystal-clear ponds fed by Mount Fuji’s melting snow. Strolling through this picturesque town felt like stepping back in time, with traditional thatched-roof houses, fresh local snacks, and stunning views of the mountain reflecting in the water.

Kitaguchi-hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine – A Sacred Sanctuary

A trip to Mount Fuji isn’t complete without visiting a sacred site. The Kitaguchi-hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is one of the most historically significant shrines in the region, dedicated to the deity of Mount Fuji. Walking through the towering cedar trees and ancient wooden structures gave me a deep appreciation for Japan’s rich spiritual heritage.

Lake Kawaguchi – A Mirror to Mount Fuji

One of the best places to capture Fuji’s reflection is Lake Kawaguchi. The peaceful lake, surrounded by cherry blossoms in the spring and fiery foliage in the fall, offers postcard-perfect views. I took a relaxing stroll along the shore, soaking in the serene atmosphere and snapping some of my favorite photos of the trip.

Mt. Kachi Kachi Ropeway – Panoramic Perfection

For a stunning aerial view, I hopped on the Mt. Kachi Kachi Ropeway, which took me up to an observation deck overlooking Lake Kawaguchi and Mount Fuji. The short ride was totally worth it—the sweeping vistas were simply mesmerizing! Plus, the area is inspired by a famous Japanese folktale, adding a touch of storytelling magic to the experience.

Oishi Park – Fuji Framed by Flowers

Our final stop was Oishi Park, a beautifully landscaped park offering one of the most scenic views of Mount Fuji. Depending on the season, you’ll see vibrant lavender, cosmos flowers, or bright red kokia bushes framing the iconic peak. It was the perfect place to relax before heading back to Tokyo.
