This past week, I had the sweet privilege of attending a sneak peek of a collaboration that’s pure indulgence in a glass—and a bite: Boulevard Brewing Co. has teamed up with the iconic Whitman’s Chocolates (yes, the same folks behind Russell Stover) to create something that tastes like your childhood memories grew up and learned how to brew beer.
Let me just say—I loved every minute of it.
The VIP Preview: Beer Meets Chocolate in the Best Way Possible
The event was held on Tuesday, May 27th, inside the cozy, loft-style Smokestack Room at Boulevard’s Beer Hall in Kansas City. It was an intimate gathering for a guided tasting hosted by Boulevard’s Brand Manager and Russel Stover’s own Director of Product Creation, Wayne Houde—a dream duo for anyone who worships at the altar of craft beer anddessert.
We sampled some Boulevard barrel-aged beers, but the star of the show was the brand-new More S’mores Barrel-Aged Stout—a velvety, rich brew layered with roasty malt, bittersweet chocolate, graham cracker warmth, and that dreamy toasted marshmallow finish. It’s literally s’mores in beer form. And yes, it pairs perfectly with Whitman’s S’mores bites.
We each left with a swag bag (hello, goodies!), and honestly? I’m still thinking about those pairings.
